THE YURTS
High Sierra backcountry yurts fuse rugged adventure with simple comfort in remote alpine and forest settings. Modeled on Mongolian designs, these circular, weatherproof shelters let skiers, snowboarders, and backcountry travelers do multi-day trips without heavy tents. Inside, compact communal spaces prioritize warmth and practicality—wood stoves, insulated walls, and shared sleeping platforms for drying gear, planning routes, and enjoying mountain solitude.
THE SECRET RECIPE TO YOUR BEST DAY EVER:
After a full day of skiing and riding, linger a little longer in our yurts to let the mountain calm settle in. Gather by the wood stove with hot drinks while gear dries and conversations drift from runs of the day to plans for tomorrow. The comfortable, communal spaces invite relaxed stretching, light snacks, and quiet reflection as the sun drops behind the ridgeline. Staying on-site means you can move at a slower pace—no rush to pack up or drive away—so your group can savor those final moments on the snow before bed.
THE YURTS
Our newly renovated Yurt Village is a oasis in the Backcountry. Lots of time and effort have been put into renovating into a new design our “Dunderberg Yurt” is now a comfortable area with couches, games, a lounge space, bar and dining area. We have two separate yurts “Mono” and “Castle” with five queen sized beds stocked with fresh bedding and heating for a comfortable home for you’re small group. Trust us, it won’t feel like you’re in the backcountry. Bathrooms are a basic composting system nearby, it is a warm and comfortable to use.
Sitting next to your yurt is a wood fired sauna that stays heated at 140 degrees. There is no better way to unwind.
Our yurts reside in a remote location 8 miles back from Hwy 395, hence why we meet at Conway Summit Parking Lot and arrive via Snowcat.

The snowcat is used as a tool to transport our groups to the best snow and ski terrain. Our snowcat operator will drive us back 6 miles into the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest where you will get dropped off at the top of each ski run then picked up at the bottom to go again. The initial ride out takes 30 minutes then transport times get much shorter once we are in our zone.

For your safety, guests are required to be advanced skiers and riders. We do not have any groomed terrain, therefore you will be expected to be capable of riding a wide variety of conditions including powder, crust, ice, slush, etc.
